HISTORY FROM THE CHICAGO PARK DISTRICT

Keystone Park is one of many small parks created for the post-World War II demand, designated in 1949. The bureau named the park for adjacent Keystone Avenue, referring to Pennsylvania, long known as the "Keystone State," and the architectural term "keystone" which is the central piece in a masonry arch. The park district planted a number of trees in the 1960s, and extensively rehabilitated the playground in 1992. More info >
