Hermosa Area Schools

Hermosa has several elementary and high school options in and around the neighborhood. If you are planning in enrolling a child in the free Chicago Public Schools system, all new students must submit an application to CPS .  All other private schools have their own application systems. 

Earliest age for Pre School at CPS: Your child must be 3 years old before September 1st of the upcoming school year. For more details, visit CPS.edu, Early Learning program.

Neighborhood History:
Madonna High School

 

4055 W Belmont (1949 - 2001)

Just east of the tracks on Belmont (Avondale) , this all-girl catholic high school was located at 4055 W Belmont Ave, demolished in 2001. The land is still owned by the Franciscan Sisters, who built St. Joseph's Home and Assisted Living Center in it's place.  Madonna High School Alumni can connect through this Facebook page.
